Plant Based Protein Smoothie

About a year ago, my dad challenged me to go gluten free to see if any of my digestive and inflammation symptoms would go away. I switched my protein powder first from soy (NIGHTMARE) to whey (NIGHTMARE) and finally, to pea protein or plant based protein.

I tried so many different products and brands, and finally found a wonderful balance with VegaOne products. I have my morning smoothie every day, as my breakfast. I get asked so many times what I put in my smoothie to make it ‘drinkable’ so I thought I would share, as it has made a tremendous difference in my overall nutrition and wellness.

• A bunch of frozen organic no-sugar added fruits. I like to buy mine at my local farmer’s market and throw in a freezer bag after washing and removing stems. Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Ralphs have a great selection of organic frozen fruits as well. I like a blend of blueberries and cherries. I try to stay away from strawberries, blackberries, and boysenberries because the seeds get caught in my dental work lol.

VegaOne Protein Powder. I like the VegaOne formula because it has pretty much everything you need it in. I just got my nutrient blood work panel done, and for the first time, I have no nutritional deficiencies. Which is awesome and amazing. Anyway, you get VegaOne at Costco, Amazon (my preferred method) Whole Foods (On the pricier side) or Sprouts (Sometimes it is on sale). • 1/3 cup of crushed ice

• 6 oz of organic Coconut Milk – I like Pacific Brands because it doesn’t contain any crazy chemicals.

• 1 scoop of organic Maca (this helps with circulation, mood stability and energy).

Add all of your ingredients to your blender and smooth it up to the consistency of choice. If you need it to be more or less liquidy, add chilled water, or less ice etc. to get it to the consistency of your choice.

Guess what…they did! Not only did they go away, but my whole life has changed. Today I am 1 year into a fully gluten free, healthy digestive and inflammation free lifestyle, and I couldn’t be happier.
